Zamboanga City, one of most visited city in Southern Minadanao was hit by a twin explosion at around 12:35 p.m. and 12:45 p.m. according to the latest accounts by police authorities responding with the incidents.
According to the police chief of Zamboanga, Senior Superintendent Edwin De Ocampo there were a total of 4 people hurt in an explosion inside a cockpit in Barangay San Roque around 12:35. According to the latest updates from ANC News Channel the number increase to a total of 5 injured.
Meanwhile another explosion happens only about 4 kilometers from where the first explosion occured. It happens on a pension house in Brgy. Guiwan. It happens inside Red Palm Pension House. There were a total of four wounded.
With the latest news from the ANC the numbers of victims from the pension house had already increase to four, stating that those victims were part of a boxing team set to have a fight tomorrow night in Zamboanga City.
Boxers who were injured will suppose to take part in ”Golpe-Golpe na Zamboanga” (Boxing in Zamboanga City) was the anticipated event to be held on Monday in Zamboanga City as part of the celebration of Zamboanga Hermosa Festival 2011. It is the festival of the patron saint of the city, Nuestra Señora del Pilar.
Col. Buenaventura Pascual, commander of Task Force Zamboanga had already made a statement that the exploded bombs were improvised explosive device (ied). According to him military bomb experts were conducting post blast investigation but gave no further details.
