THE Chinese company that claims it owns the iPad brand name in China wants Apple to pay up to $US2 billion for naming rights.
According to a cache of documents that includes emails and a contract, Apple agreed more than two years ago to buy rights to the iPad trademark in a number of countries from Proview International Holdings Ltd. The price then was $US35,000, or $US55,494 at current exchange rates.
