A strange park in Finland

The park sculpture of Veijo Ronkkonen is in the remote eastern Finland and is perhaps the most important group of contemporary folk art in the country The first project in the park was completed in 1961. On day the park is filled with over 450 statues, including more than 200 portraits in positions yoga. The garden is itself a work of art, with exotic plants and sound effects, produced by loudspeakers that are hidden inside sculptures.

The artist has never allowed the projects to be exposed to much less and sold. From the few times that has been asked to show his work, the Rönkkönen always insisted that it would discuss the matter with the statues first, but always their answer was negative because they were willing to travel.
