Google Chrome skins or themes are a great option for modifying the appearance of your browser. Changing a theme alters the appearance of nearly every item on your browser – including its background color and scroll bar.
The latest themes can be installed on Google Chrome 3.0. You get to select from two theme categories – those by artists and those by Google. The former category has skins created by a host of top designers. Their latest creations and inspirations have been transformed into Google Chrome skins. Getting the skins on the browser is quite easy. There are three ways of installing Google Chrome skins and of them the first is the simplest. Use the other two if the browser does not allow you to apply skins the first way.
Installing Chrome Skins Directly
- Open Google Chrome browser.
- Search for ‘Google Chrome skins’ or ‘Google Chrome themes’.
- From the results, select the one titled ‘Google Chrome Themes Gallery’.
- The window will display a number of themes. These will be categorized as ‘Themes by Artists’ and ‘Themes by Google’. Click on either – based on your preference.
- Browse through the themes in the window and click on the ‘Apply theme’ button below the one you like.
- Once the download is complete, the theme will be applied automatically and the browser will show the skin you chose.
- Before you install the theme, you have the option of previewing it. This will give you an idea of how the theme will look when applied. Here are the steps to preview the skins:
- Click on the theme you like – instead of the ‘Apply theme’ button.
- This will open a page on which you will see a screenshot of the browser after the theme is applied.
- In case you dislike the theme, go to the page featuring all the themes by clicking on the text ‘Back to themes’.
- When you like a skin, click on the ‘Apply theme’ button located beside the screenshot and the theme will be automatically installed.
- Open Google Chrome browser.
- Click on the wrench menu located at the top right hand corner of the browser.
- From the drop-down menu, select ‘Options’.
- Next, click on the button marked ‘Personal Stuff’.
- Here you will find a section labeled ‘Themes’. It will feature an option ‘Get themes’. Click on this, and it will take you to the Google Themes gallery.
- From here, follow the steps for installation as those in method one (step 4 onwards).
- Open Google Chrome browser.
- Search Google for ‘Chrome Web Store’ and click on a relevant result.
- At the Chrome Web Store go to the ‘Themes’ section located on the left hand side of the screen.
- It will show you options for ‘Themes by Artists’ and ‘Themes by Google’. Click on the one you prefer.
- Next, a page featuring different themes will appear. Click on the theme you like and you will be taken to a page which informs you whether you have to pay for it or not.
Click on the button marked ‘Install’ and the theme gets applied automatically.
