MANILA, Philippines -- Although it seems a bit belated, Pond’s has jumped on the all-natural bandwagon with its latest range of skincare products. But the delay is not a sign of nonchalance toward the eco-friendly trend, rather a testament to the brand’s commitment to upholding the reputation it has built over the decades. Indeed, according to Pond’s senior brand manager Jacqe Yuengtian, it took the better part of two years to perfect the Pond’s White Beauty Naturals line.
“This product was in the pipeline for two years. We took a long time planning it out since we really wanted something natural that would address skin lightening, since that is still the number one concern of Filipinas,” Yuengtian explains. The brand’s search led it to a leaf that was hiding in plain sight: the Camellia leaf, used most often in tea and a known antioxidant. However, beyond the obvious, Pond’s researchers were also able to find a skin beneficial property. “The Camellia leaf extract is known to reduce the formation of melanin deep within your skin, and the proven skin lightening technology of the Pond’s White Beauty range inhibits melanin being released to the skin’s surface, reducing skin darkening and imperfections,” explains Dr. Sona Pushker, head of research at the Pond’s Institute.
