One way to improve performance (performance) that can speed up your windows 7 is to increase the virtual memory (virtual memory). Virtual memory is additional memory that can be retrieved from space (free space) that exists on your hard drive. Windows provides this facility to support or improve the performance of your computer (pc or notebook).
By default windows will allocate space on your hard drive in accordance with the minimum requirement of Windows, but with the settings manually, we can add a virtual space of computer memory. Virtual memory will be used by windows automatically if physical memory has been fully used by the application windows, by adding virtual memory then we can avoid the emergence of the message “low virtual memory”.
Here is the procedure or how to increase virtual memory windows 7:
- Right click on computer icon select Properties
- Select advanced system settings
- Select the Advanced tab
- select the Settings button.
- In the Performance Options dialog box
- in the virtual memory select the Change button
- Remove the tick “automatically manage paging file size for all drives”
- Select the Custom size option
- Fill in the initial size (MB): 1000 (adjust the capacity of free space on your hard drive)
- Fill in the maximum size (MB): 2000 (adjust the capacity of free space on your hard drive can be larger or smaller than the value)
- Click the Set button
- the result will look like the image below
- Select OK
- Restart your computer
Virtual memory settings are only useful if the memory capacity has been fully used by different applications are running on your computer.
