MiVeu iPhone Case Transforms Your Smartphone Into A Rugged POV Camera (video)

Miveu has unveiled a new system at CES this month that has been designed to transform your iPhone into a rugged POV system. It has been specifically designed with a custom optical glass lens. Extending the viewing angle of the iPhone to record video from the an amazing perspective that would otherwise not be available.

The custom lens is attached to the iPhone using a rugged customised case, which incorporates a simple tactile shutter button providing easy operation even when wearing thick gloves. Watch the promotional video after the jump to see it in action.

Samsung Forte – Android smartphone with sliding QWERTY keyboard and support for LTE networks

Samsung Hub reported that the Samsung Electronics is going to release another Android smartphone with support for LTE networks for North American mobile operator MetroPCS.This model will be called Samsung Forte and have a sliding side QWERTY keyboard.

As expected, this novelty will be available preloaded with Android OS 2.2 (Froyo) and also have an option to upgrade to version 2.3 (Gingerbread). Samsung Forte will be equipped with 1 GHz processor, Hummingbird, 5 megapixel camera, proprietary TouchWiz interface and memory card slot for MicroSD.

Acer Iconia Smart: a phone AND a tablet

Acer has just launched the gorgeous new Acer Iconia Smart, describing the 4.8-inch device as a smartphone “with the soul of a tablet”.

The Acer Iconia Smart’s screen has an ultra-wide 21:9 aspect ratio and dominates the entire front of the sleek device. It boasts multi-touch capabilities, and its 1024 x 480 resolution means it can show web pages at full width – there’s no need to resize them. Acer likens the web browsing experience to that of using a traditional PC: you can just scroll up and down to read pages.

Android device manufacturers have pretty much stuck to the standard design, that is a touch screen 3.5″-5″ with a few buttons dotted around the screen. Over the years we have seen various devices with a physical keyboard such as the G1, Motorola Milestone (Droid) or the HTC Desire Z. Only recently have manufacturers tried different form factor. Motorola came out with the Droid Pro which is a Blackberry style device, they also released the Flipout which has a rotating qwerty keyboard and most recently Samsung released the Galaxy Pro which again is a Blackberry style form factor. Acer have recently come out with their own version of this style of device, it is the Acer beTouch e210 and here is my review of it.
